Label Ingredients

Label Ingredients

Every since I started formulating body and skincare I was always curious on the relevance of the ingredients used to make up the product.  Some had super long list of ingredients and some less.  I was bewilered by all the ingredients. I learned how to incorporate the ingredients and create products that I hope to work for you.  Now I am not an expert in this.  You can get the summary of cosmetics labeling on the FDA website (fda.gov). When we look at a label the ingredients are listed most to least (FDA requirement) concentration. In skincare, if it is less than 1% it can be listed in any order.  So a lot of times our products contain less than 1% of that ingredient. For example in certain preservatives only .5% is needed and you can kinda guess the rest after that is in low concentrations. But then there is the topic on fillers and ingredients that are put in just to make a claim it does xyz, but really doesn't do anything because given the percent used its just a marketing ploy that it includes this ingredient.  I definitely think doing your research helps. I don’t think it’s asking much to learn a little more about what we’re putting onto our skin and into our bodies or homes. Watch for those products, and avoid paying a fortune for false claims.
